The ground-mounted 250kWp system in Sanliurfa province, in south eastern Turkey, is owned by Odaş Enerji and will save the company approximately one million euros in costs. It incorporates state-of-the-art solar panels and inverters and remote control and monitoring provides system performance parameters on a daily basis.
The complete system consists of 1000 CSUN solar panels and 15 SMA inverters and is expected to displace 357 metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions per year over its 25 year plus lifetime, generating enough power to supply 350 houses. The facility has just completed Provisional Acceptance, an approval procedure required under Turkish state law before facilities can sell power to the national grid. This was carried out by the Turkish state operator TEDAS (Turkish Electricity Distribution Corporation).
“After commissioning Turkey’s largest roof-mounted solar PV system in Adana, we are happy to connect the first solar system in Şanlıurfa, in the South-Eastern Anatolian region” said Mr. Umut Gürbüz, General Manager of Asunim Turkey. “This new project is a significant achievement for raising the awareness for solar investments and the economic development in this eastern region of Turkey. Focusing on cost-effective and modular renewable energy sources such as solar power is the right fit for the increasing South East energy needs. The region’s first solar energy system plays a vital role in revealing the regions’ high solar energy potential.”
Asunim Turkey successfully completed the plant on schedule despite extremely challenging terrain and weather conditions. The company has had a presence in the region since 2012 and is part of the Asunim Group, itself incorporating a number of renewable energy companies located in different countries and markets around the world. The group specialises in solar PV technologies and is typically involved in engineering, procurement and construction (EPC), project development and consultancy and wholesale supply of solar modules, inverters and other system components worldwide.
