Located in Ingleside, Ontario, Rutley Solar is a 10 MW project developed by SunEdison Canada. The project is comprised of 40,436 solar panels covering approximately 100 acres. Electricity produced by SunE Rutley will feed into the Hydro One Network (HONI).
"RES Canada is proud to have constructed Ontario's first large-scale solar FIT project," said Peter Clibbon, Vice President of RES Canada. "Rutley Solar demonstrates RES Canada's robust construction capabilities, and puts a spotlight on the significant knowledge and expertise we offer to our clients."
Ontario's FIT programme was established in 2006 by the Ontario Power Authority (OPA) to stimulate investment in renewable energy projects in the province.
Construction of SunE Rutley began in August 2011 and was completed in early March 2012. Despite the significant challenges of winter construction, RES Canada successfully completed the project on schedule.
"SunEdison is proud to deliver the first utility-scale PV project under the FIT program and proud of the work accomplished with RES Canada," said Michael Dilworth, General Manager, SunEdison Canada. "Together along with the OPA, we are changing the way people think about renewable energy by creating sustainable jobs, stimulating local economies and by providing clean affordable solar energy solutions to the citizens of Ontario."
