In his State of the City address in late February, he announced the roof of City Hall will be going green.
The project is expected to cost approximately $1.7 million and includes plans to add greenery to sidewalks around City Hall. The city will apply for state environmental grants to provide up to 90 percent of the funding.
The roof and added greenery are expected to reduce stormwater runoff by roughly 835,000 gallons.
The roof will be covered with 22,500 square feet of sedum. The plants require little maintenance and will regrow each year.
“It will showcase to our entire community advanced green technology that can reduce pollution and enhance urban landscapes,” said Mayor David.
