CEO of Finavera Renewables outlines potential of ocean wave power before United States Congressional Committee

Jason Bak who is the CEO of Finavera Renewables has presented his vision for ocean waver power and it’s future to a Committee of the United States Congress. He stressed the potential of the technology as well as the need to streamline and cut red tape to allow for faster coming on stream of projects.

According to Bak the industry “is not pie in the sky” , he also said that “Ocean
renewable energy’s time has come.” His testimony came in front of a Joint Subcommittee Hearing on Renewable Energy Opportunities and Issues on the Outer Continental Shelf

At current Finavera has several projects in the works off of California, Oregon, and Washington in the United States. In addition it is also looking to locations internationally in South Africa, Portugal, and Canada. All projects are still in preliminary phases and will use the companies AquaBuOY array system. The system is designed to ride atop the water and survive large storms. In addition the company also has interests in wind projects in Ireland and Canada.
