The wave project which would be the first of its kind in South Africa , and one of the few in this part of the Southern Hemisphere is truly groundbreaking. The government of South Africa still has to provide details to the firm on how it may proceed with regards to the lease. Potentially 30 million Kwh could be generated from the project, saving over 4000 tons of C02 emissions a year. The company is looking at two sites in the Western Cape area at the moment.
The South African government is keen to replace its coal dominated energy supply industry , and put in lots of renewables in the near future. The project is projected in total to cost $40 million USD.
The CEO Jason Bak is a member of the Clinton Global Initiative and as part of this has pledged to develop the 20 MW project in South Africa.
