Iran´s Farab wins contract for construction of hydro plant in Tajikistan

The project is a large scale project for the consturction, engineering , and procurement of a hydro power plant in Tajikistian to be completed in 2011 and generate 4000 mW. At current the companies diverse portfolio includes five hydro power plants generating 8950 mW in Iran with a further six under construction.

This project marks the first time that Farab is venturing outside of Iran. According to Ramin Behzad of Farab attempts are under way to further establish projects in every Africian country. He has also said „we have bid on contracts in Nigeria and Kenya. The demand for hydro-electric power in these countries is higher than ever because of the increasing price of gas and petroleum. Countries are moving to hydro-electric to satisfy their demand for power. African countries have great potential for this type of power."

 

Iran is trying to meet large power demands with for its future , with Farab looking to add 3,300 mW by 2010 and eventually reaching 16,000 total mW of hydro power in Iran soon.
