The power generated from the plant is slated to go to 5,500 households in the Phoenix area. The project should be completed by December of this year and is located in Hidalgo County. The plant will be the first of its kind in New Mexico.
Power will be sold under a purchased power agreement between Raser and the Salt River Project , a utility from Phoenix. This deal is for 20 years, thereby securing the long term prospects of the project. The geothermal power units for the project will come from United Technologies Co and in total 50 units will be installed on site.
