Land west of the Mississippi in America seems to be one of the hot spots on this planet at the moment for geothermal power development. The rights in question this time cover 9,370 acres in two counties in Southern Utah. The lease terms are for up to 10 years and can be renewed for longer. The factors which will come into play for renewing the contracts are development activity and payment of minimum rental payments. Raser now has over 37,000 acres in Utah alone under lease for geothermal development.

Cook CEO of Raser Technologies stated that “We have established what we believe to be one of the most attractive undeveloped geothermal resource portfolios in the U.S.,” , “and we plan to continue expanding our portfolio as we identify new, attractive properties to ensure that we have the geothermal resources sufficient to meet our goals in the development of renewable power plants.”
