The two governments have in principle agreed to collaboration and cooperate on a variety of topics from linking power grids to expansion of power plants as well as construction of new hydro plants. Already there are pipelines running between the two countries.
The talks which were recently held also looked to include private parties in the deals between the countries. For two countries with such large governmental involvement in such critical issues and relatively non-privatized markets this comes as a big surprise for many. The hydro power potential of both countries is quiet sizeable but requires careful management as there are many regional battles going on for water.
