The British government annunced on Friday that grants will be made available for small wind turbines and solar panels on their homes.
The Labour government has so far granted more than $13 million through the Low Carbon Buildings Programme launched Department of Trade and Industry in April of 2006, and so far the programme has funded 2,175 facilities, including 242 mini-turbines, 313 Solar PV projects and 1,467 solar thermal heating systems. However, only half of the money has been spent so far because of supply chain, building and bureaucratic issues.
New applications will open from next Tuesday, and will amount to $23.6 million that is still remaining in the budget. However, new changes in the application criteria include the removal of the current monthly cap so as a new requirement to have planning permission before applying to the grant.
