Details have not been announced yet. What is known already is that the size of projects that can sell electricity to the grid will be increased from 3 MW to 5 MW.
The lobbies have welcomed the move, which also includes the renewable heat incentive. “The Renewable Energy Association is delighted that that government has recognized the advantages of a tariff-style incentive scheme which will open doors for small-scale producers of renewable heat, electricity and bio-methane,” said Mr Philip Wolfe, Director General of the group.
The proposed legislation will be voted in the coming days, and could come into force before the end of the month.
