The solar electric thermal plant will be located in Saucedilla (Cáceres), only three kilometers away from the Almaraz nuclear plant, and will be sitting on an area of 270 hectares. The plant will have a power of 50 MW, using technology developed by Albiasa, which is expected to cut costs through less raw materials and a simpler assembling process.
200 m euros will be invested in the plant, in which Albiasa will keep a share of 10%. The remaining 90% of capital will be provided by an international renewable energy fund. The plant will be financed under a turnkey basis and its construction will start in the first term of 2008.
The Basque company is at the moment developing three solar PV plants in Cáceres totalling 7 MW, with an investment of over 60 m euros. Besides, Albiasa is also the developer of the Villanueva de la Reina (Jaén) plant, with 2 MW, and the Socuéllamos (Ciudad Real) one, with a total capacity of 2.8 MW.
