The Australian company will build, in the first stage of the project, a 5 MW solar park near Raymond Terrace, which will be completed by June 2008. However, in the future the capacity of this plant will be increased six-fold up to 30 MW of power. The cost of the project has been calculated at $ 300 m.
CBD Energy is working on a new type of revolutionary thin-film solar PV technology which could be manufactured for one tenth of the cost of conventional PV technology, according to Mr Gerry McGowan, Executive Chairman of CBD Energy.
