The company has announced that it will start the construction of the plant, to be located in Castilla-La Mancha (Spain), in mid 2008.
The plant will require an investment of 100 m euros and will be located in the La Nava industrial estate, in Puertollano (Ciudad Real). The first phase of the project will have a production capacity of 300 MW per year.
An extension of the plant for the future is being considered as well. In such case, the capacity of the plant would reach an impressive 500 MW. The plant is expected to create employment for 500-600 people.
The plant will be possible thanks to an agreement sealed between the regional Governor of Castilla-La Mancha, Mr José María Barreda, the Mayor of Puertollano, Mr Joaquín Hermoso, and the President of BP in Spain, Mr Alfredo Barrios, and the Strategic Director of BP Solar, Mr Emilio Camblor.
