“This plant is thought to supply Spain and Portugal, although it also has capacity to provide structures to other countries in the Mediterranean area" said the company in a press release.
Conergy states that it is the largest solar PV company in Europe. With the new plant, the company will "step forward towards the firm's goals in Spain", according to Mr Alberto Sanromán, Director at the Conergy's headquarters in Spain.
The plant is located in Daganzo, some thirty kilometers away from Madrid, and sits on an area of 800 square meters. It shares a building with Conergy's logistic center in Spain, the company's largest warehouse outside Germany, with an area of 5,000 square meters. According to Mr Sanromán, “the new factory will provide a greater flexibility to attend our customer's needs while being more cost-efficient".
Likewise, Conergy estimates that the local production of equipment will be able to cut up to 60% of transportation costs. For this reason, the company will move 10% of its production from its plant in Rangsdorf (Germany) to Daganzo, “in a clear effort to promote its activities in España”.
