The contract has been signed with a German bank. The agreement follows another one signed last November in Spain, totalling 394 million euros. Epuron will thus become one of the biggest solar PV developers in Europe.
Thanks to this new agreement, Epuron expects to build new PV facilities in Germany, totalling 25 MW, which will come on top of the 43 MW built so far by the company in Germany. 15 MW will be built only in 2007.
Too much for Germany? According to Mr Joachim Müller, who manages financial projects in the German firm, there is still potential in Germany, despite the fact that the country is the world leader in solar technology at the moment.
As concerns Italy, the projects planned total 3 MW, split in three different plants. Epuron's strategy in Italy is part of the company's strategy to place 50% of its sales abroad by 2008, which will require projects in Greece and Spain as well.
Worldwide, Epuron is developing 110 MW of solar PV energy. Depending on the environmental and geological conditions, Epuron chooses thin film or crystaline cells, and the company does not face shortage of neither one, as the thin film supply is guaranteed for them by contract and the thin film one is also secure thanks to the start of production at Conergy's Frankfurt-Oder plant, with an estimated yearly production of 205 MW.
