Moser Baer signs solar panel deals worth $ 500 m

Moser Baer India Ltd will supply thin film panels to European companies like Ralos Vertriebs and Colexon Energy. This is a sign of the long-awaited take off of such technology.

The buyers are among the leading solar PV integrators in Europe. The contracts sign amount to an astonishing $500 m during the next five years, ending in 2012. According to Mr Ravi Khanna, CEO of the company, the contracts are a sign of the rapid growth of Moser Baer's solar PV business and the trust of the company's customers in thin film technology. Moser Baer aims to become a global leader in solar PV, growing beyond the top markets of Germany and Japan. Among these new growth area, the company is also looking at Spain and the US. Definitely, the Indian firm can expect to have a lot of business in these two countries after the new legislations passed (high enough feed-in tariffs in Spain and new tax breaks in the US). Developing countries will also be a focus area for the Indian firm.
