New company formed to help bridge the solar gap

Industry notables Marc Chason, Dr. James J. Hickman and Gene H. Weiner have formed Quantum Solar Group LLC (QSG) to help members of the PWB, SMT and electronics assembly industries and their suppliers of chemicals, materials, and equipment understand the burgeoning photovoltaic industry and the new commercial opportunities provided through variations of familiar processes and technologies.

The three QSG founders will bring their 100+ years of technical, management, marketing and executive experience to bear in identifying new fabrication and assembly opportunities as well as expanding the application of existing equipment and consumable supplies.

They will identify the need for new and modified assembly processes as well as new chemicals and materials including quantum dots, nanoparticles, and print electronics to meet the rapidly shifting technology trends resulting from numerous breakthroughs required for meeting various roadmaps for the use of solar power.

Marc Chason is a former director in Motorola Laboratories and a Motorola Dan Noble Fellow. He is a recognized industry expert in multiple spaces of the high-technology electronics industry with skills that include engineering management, strategic visioning, technology transfers, and new technology/business development. Chason is chairing iNEMI’s 2009 Solid State Illumination Roadmap Committee.
