New solar cell performance record by Mitsubishi

Mitsubishi Electric has achieved an impressive performance of 18% for a policrystalline cell. The unit has an area 150 sq milimeters and has recorded a performance 1.2% higher than the previous record. The new technology will be presented in a solar fair at Fukuoka next December.
Such a high performance has been achieved thanks to a low-reflection texturized area and a process that prints the electrodes on the silicon, thus reducing shadow areas.

The new technology will be used as from the end of 2007. Mitsubishi will then achieve the highest performance level in the industry, which will increase the electricity production of its clients, commented the Japanese firm.
