The plan would provide incentives to push solar power growth so that it reaches 5,400 MW by 2020, according to a report published by Barclays Capital Solar Energy (the former goal was 3,000 MW by then). “France wants top play a key role in the upcoming solar Energy revolution”, said Mr Jean-Louis Borloo, Minister for the Ecology, Development and Sustainable Development.
“Solar power is key”, added Mr Borloo, outlining that France has high capacity and low costs of production for solar manufacturing. According to the French press citing Barclays, the government wants to include big solar plants in the feed-in tariff, which has so far only included small facilities.
According to the report, the feed-in tariff would be around 0.45 eur / kWh. At the moment, small facilities receive 0.30 eur / kWh on rooftops and 0.55 eur / kWh in integrated facilities.
