"Les Vents de Cernon" (this is how the windpark is to be named) will be located in Marne (Champagne Ardennes region) and is expected to generate more than 39 GWh per year, preventing the emission of 32,600 tonnes of CO2 into the atmosphere.
Following an auction process, Endesa agreed with Danish Nordex to develop the project under a turnkey contract. It has already signed a turnkey construction contract with Danish multinational Nordex, which will provide N-90/LS wind turbines with a unit capacity of 2.5 MW, 80-meter masts and 90-meter rotor diameter (with blades at an impressive 44 meters).
Civil engineering works will begin in fall this year, and they will allow turbines to be erected by May 2008. The whole project is expected to be delievered by mid June of next year.
This is not the only project Endesa has been working on lately accross the Pyrenees mountains, as the firm announced just two months ago the commissioning of another 10 MW project in Lehaucour.
These projects are part of Endesa France’s business plan, which aims to develop 200 MW of wind power in the coming years.
