The 223.6 MW wind farm will the largest wind farm in the world for Iberdrola Renewables.
The wind farm will feature a mix of 80 1.5 MW units from General Electric , 44 2.3 MW units from Siemens and a single unit from Mitsubishi rated at 2.4 MW. The company also plans to focus its efforts on the United States in the coming three years.
At the end of 2007 the company’s wind power capacity in the United States stood at 2,145 MW, while new wind projects in the country reached nearly 22,000 MW –more than half the company’s worldwide total. IBERDROLA’s wind energy production last year amounted to 5.23 billion kWh***, which was 36% of the utility group’s total U.S. electricity output. In addition, it is currently building another six wind farms in the United States, with a total installed capacity of 369 MW.
