LM Glasfiber starts construction of new blade manufacturing facility

The new facility will be located in Goleniów in Poland and will be the company's largest in Northern Europe.

The blades manufactured at this facility will be suitable for multi MW applications and will be up to 60 meters in length. With its location close to road and sea transportation links it is hoped that the transportation costs will be significantly lower than other facilities. Deliveries of blades from this facility are envisioned for North , Central and Eastern Europe. Approximately 250 employees will work at the factory. The annual capacity will be near 750 MW, and the first customer is already lined up; Nordex. The factory is expected to start producing blades by the end of 2008. LM Glasfiber is the worlds leading supplier of blades for wind turbines and they are currently expanding to over 2,000 MW of capacity for 2008. The company opened its first facility in Arkansas, United States. In addition to this new factory in Poland, there will be a second facility built near the original one in addition to the ones operating in Denmark, India and China.

Dr. Hansjörg Müller, COO Operations of Nordex says: "We are very pleased to be able to secure new blade supply capacity in Poland. Nordex has recently successfully entered the Polish market.. In addition, the new factory provides a competitive supply option for large blades for our other European projects strongly supporting our ambitious growth strategy."

Søren F. Knudsen, VP & Chief Commercial Officer of LM Glasfiber says: "With the new Polish factory we continue our global capacity expansion programme, enabling us to better respond in a timely manner to the needs of our customers. I am very happy that we will soon be able to offer Nordex and our other strategic customers new blade supply capacity that significantly adds value to their business in a fast growing wind power market."
