Nordex enters Polish market

The wind turbine manufacture has entered the Polish market with 50 MW project with Megawatt Baltika

The wind farm called “Tychowo” will be close to the Batlic coast and be operated by Megawatt Baltika. Nordex will supply 20 N90/2500 LS turbines. The price for these will be about 51 million Euro. In addition the firm will also service the turbines for 9 years. Due to less than ideal wind speed conditions of 6.9 m per second the low speed version of the turbine will be used with a 100 meter tower.

This will be the first wind power project for Megawatt Baltika , which has thus far only operated hydro electric projects.

Carsten Pedersen, COO Sales and Marketing at Nordex AG was quoted as saying: “This marks one of four wind farms which Nordex is building in Poland this year – we have just completed the first one, with a further two to be built as of the middle of the year. As a result, the Polish market is living up to our expectations. Looking forward into the medium term, we plan to install an annual capacity of 100 MW in this market, for example in the form of 40 N90 or N100 turbines.”
