Offshore wind farm project in UK delayed

 

The 60 turbine project Robin Rigg , which belongs to Eon has been delayed.

The project will not be completed before summer of 2009. The 180 MW , 60 turbine project, was set to power 120,000 homes in the UK and help the UK government move a significant step forward towards meeting its renewable energy targets. It is located off the costs of Dumfries and Galloway.

The target was to complete the project by early 2009, however now the developers think that it will be late 2009 before the project might be completed. The project has experienced problems with delays in equipment arriving and an incident involving one of the rigs used for installation of the turbines last month. In total the project will cost some 650 million USD.
