Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk said the Northern Oil Advanced Biofuels Pilot Plant is a significant step in the development of an advanced biofuels industry in the third-most populous state in Australia.
If all goes according to plan, the pilot plant will be operational by the end of the year, and over the next three years will produce one million litres of fuel for use in field trials by both the U.S. and Australian Navies.
If those trials are successful, the pilot plant will be expanded to a large-scale commercial refinery producing advanced biofuels for a wide range of customers.
