Neste MY is premium-quality diesel made from wastes, residues from animal and fish fat and used cooking oil and vegetable oil, thus making it significantly better for the environment than petroleum diesel, though it has the same chemical composition. It can be introduced into any diesel-powered vehicle without any change in infrastructure and meets all ASTM D975 and federal diesel specifications.
Fuel Delivery Services, Inc. (FDS) is a bulk transporter of refined petroleum products based in Stockton, California. The company has recently switched its Stockton based fleet of trucks to Neste MY enabling its transportation services, which run seven days a week, 365 days a year to a variety of clients, from small jobbers to major oil companies, to operate on renewable fuel. The company performed a test of the fuel in 20 of its trucks in March 2017, using more than 100,000 gallons. According to FDS President David B. Atwater, the vehicles experienced an overall increase in fuel economy, less maintenance of their emissions systems and an increase in engine power. The company now intends to switch its entire fleet of trucks to renewable diesel at all of its locations.
“It was an easy decision for us to switch to this cleaner burning fuel because we didn’t have to make any additional investments or modifications to our equipment” said Atwater. “Beyond the performance benefits, we’ve reduced our carbon footprint and significantly reduced the emissions from our vehicles which benefits both our drivers and the communities we work in.”
Jeremy Baines, Neste Vice President of Sales, added that the results achieved in the trial verifies Neste MY Renewable Diesel as offering even better engine performance than petroleum diesel yet requiring less system maintenance and producing less environmental impact. Neste is confident that it will keep seeing positive results for FDS drivers and their community.
