During the flight, which concluded at Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport, captain Liu Zhimin carried out several extreme high-altitude maneuvers to test the fuel's stability.
In an interview with the China Daily newspaper, Huang Zhongwen, a spokesman for Sinopec, China's largest refiner, said the conglomerate actually developed two new bio-fuels, the other being comprised of waste cooking oil.
After the flight Zhongwen said the pilot reported the aircraft produced a level of thrust that "was no different from traditional fuels."
