The biofuel mix -- consisting of 30 percent biofuel and 70 percent traditional jet fuel -- is being supplied by AltAir Fuels, a Los Angeles-based firm.
The airline operates four flights between the two cities every day. It has agreed to purchase 15 million gallons of the mix over the next three years.
The biofuel portion of the mix will be made from source materials ranging from cooking oil to algae.
