Biogas is becoming more and more popular in Italy, driven by the green tariff act, which guarantees grid access for electricity from renewable energy plants and fixes long-term compensation. According to Zorg Biogas AG, “Italy is the next important market after Germany in the world”.
With this in mind, the Zurich-based company has partnered with Aelita Srl, an Italian firm that has been involved in the biogas field for three years; operating its own 999-kW biogas plant that converts 55 tonnes of silage daily.
Commenting on the agreement, Yaroslav Babkin, CCO of Zorg Biogas AG, said: “we are very pleased, as Aelita is the ideal partner for the expansion in Italy, and we are already negotiating huge projects”.
Zorg Biogas AG is a four-year old biogas engineering company with headquarters in Zurich and an engineering bureau in Kiev (Ukraine). It is active in 12 countries with 60 MW under construction. The company reveals that it has commenced new biogas projects in Greece, Lithuania, Russia and Ukraine, all of which are 1 MW each.
