Renewable energy infrastructure company Bester Generación has received funding for a 4.8 MWe biomass plant located in Wellingborough, Northamptonshire, United Kingdom, and has immediately started construction of the plant commencing with a first stone ceremony on 3rd November 2014.
The plant will generate 4.8 MW of electricity and will have a production capacity of around 38,400 MWh per year, enough power to provide electricity for 12,800 homes while displacing approximately 9,500 tons of carbon dioxide emissions.
Bester Generación is acting as promoter and EPC contractor of this project, responsible for turnkey execution of construction works, a Cogeneration project which uses some of the energy in processes external to the plant, providing heat, and other heat producing electricity using a steam turbine of 4.8 MWe.
“The day of the laying of the foundation stone of the biomass power plant Wellingborough gave me a great satisfaction” said Antonio Macías Sánchez, CEO of Bester Generación. “The road has been long and hard, but it is now a reality, and we will move as quickly as possible to begin operating in early 2016.”
Bester Generación is dedicated to development, engineering, construction, operations and maintenance of renewable energy infrastructures and applies technologies for the production of renewable energy for sustainable development. It contributes to environmental sustainability through Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC), and Operation and Maintenance of renewable energy infrastructures worldwide
The construction of the plant is expected to last for 12 months, creating many direct jobs in the local area. When complete, the project will enhance Bester Generación’s renewable energy portfolio in the UK, which currently consists of both PV and biomass projects.
