After more than a year, this is one of the first international conferences offering online and on-site participation (in full compliance with COVID regulations).
Europe is aiming for a 55 percent reduction of CO2 emissions by 2030 as a milestone on its way to climate neutrality by 2050. It is crucial that the investment decisions made in the next few years put us on the path of being ‘fit for 55’ by the end of this decade. The current economic challenges and the related investment programmes present a unique opportunity to accelerate decarbonisation and to create a fairer society and a more competitive economy.
Energy efficiency and renewable energy are at the core of Europe’s commitment to a clean energy transition. Biomass is a cornerstone for the success of this transformation in Europe and globally. With still 17 million oil heating systems in the EU emitting over 150 million tonnes of CO2 every year, many people in the clean energy industry believe that bioenergy can play a key role in phasing out fossil fuels.
Each year, over 450 participants from more than 50 countries gather for the European Pellet Conference. The event brings together expertise and knowhow from all over the world to participants from all over the world.
What’s new in 2021:
Bioenergy & recovery: the conference will show how to make a green recovery happen in practice and how the pellet sector can profit from this deep transformation, presenting the policies, technologies and markets that can get us there.
Innovation Factory: innovative technologies, projects and solutions for pellets across the bioenergy value chain.
Update Green Deal: Becoming the first climate-neutral continent by 2050 is an ambitious goal. Bioenergy is a key component of this roadmap.
This ‘special edition’ of the annual conference is being held as a hybrid event: participants can connect digitally from anywhere in the world or on-location in Wels/Austria (in full compliance with COVID regulations).
The conference is organised by the OÖ Energiesparverband, the Energy Agency of Upper Austria. The region of Upper Austria is a leader in the clean energy transition: 31 percent of the primary energy comes from renewables. 35 percent of all dwellings are heated with biomass. The region’s strategic approach to the energy transition supported the growth of a vibrant industry which successfully exports worldwide. Over 2 billion Euro are invested annually in the energy transition and the dynamics created by regional programmes and initiatives are showing how the energy transition can be a cornerstone in competitiveness.
