The John W. Murray Biomass plant will cost an estimated $60 million to complete and will generate approximately 30 megawatts of clean, renewable, electrical energy, the Calgary (Canada) based company said in a written statement.
Construction of the facility is expected to begin in 2012 and to take about 13 months to complete.
Once the project has been successfully completed and commissioned, FireBox and partners will proceed to develop a larger, 270 Mw biomass facility on the same designated land.
FireBox Energy Systems has developed and patented a unique power generation platform under the trade name ‘AirBoiler’. This technology will produce electricity utilizing virtually any type of combustible material as feedstock, but without the need for valuable water.
