As first reported by SeeNews, the ministry of energy report identified 408 biogas facilities across the country as of Sept. 2015, a 15 percent increase over the same period the prior year.
At the same time, total installed capacity of biogas production rose to 355 MW, up by 11 percent on the year.
The report attributes much of the sector's growth to the ever-increasing number of waste-to-energy plants being built in France.
Over the past six years, the number of biogas installations in France have grown by an average 4.8 percent each quarter, the report said.
And there appears to be no end for this trend. According to the ministry, at least 140 projects, with a combined capacity of 98 MW, are currently in their planning stages.
