The project in Morayshire, Scotland is being undertaken by Helius Corde, the joint venture of biomass energy development company Helius Energy and The Combination of Rothes Distillers.
The joint venture has received credit approval from both Lloyds Banking Group and the Royal Bank of Scotland for a non-resource project finance credit facility.
Key contracts, with a value of more than $71.8 million (€50 million) have been awarded to Fitchner Consulting Engineers, Aalborg Energie Technik, Robertson Northern and Wellman Process Engineering.
“Announcing the implementation of these key contracts so quickly after achieving financial close demonstrates our commitment to delivering this project on time,” said Helius CEO Adrian Bowles. “We are confident that we have the right partners in place to ensure we achieve this.”
Fitchner will act as the lead engineers, while Aalborg will carry out the design, supply, erection and commissioning of the plant.
Robertson Northern will undertake civil works and provide the underlying infrastructure. Lastly, Wellman is set to provide evaporation equipment.
In addition to the contracts being awarded, electricity and associated renewable benefits will be sold to utility nPower under a power purchase agreement.
