The order is expected to be included in Valmet's fourth quarter 2018 orders received.
The delivery of the pulp drying and boilers will be done on EPS basis including plant engineering, procurement and supervision. The pulp drying line will have a daily capacity of 5,000 air dry tons (Adt). The recovery boiler will have a daily capacity of 6,300 tons dry solids (tDS). The biomass boiler features bubbling fluidized bed technology and has a capacity of 160 MWth.
The modernization and extension of Arauco Mill is the largest investment in Arauco’s history. The project includes a new pulp production line, line 3, with an annual capacity of 1,560,000 tons. The new line is estimated to start operation in 2021.
Valmet has also received an order for a biomass boiler from Greenalia for its new Curtis-Teixeiro biomass power plant in Teixeiro, Spain. With Valmet's boiler technology, the plant will be able to supply power in an efficient and sustainable way.
The order was placed by Acciona Industrial and Imasa, a Spanish EPC contractor joint venture for the plant. The biomass power plant's takeover is scheduled for January 2020.
To produce energy, the plant will use forest biomass, mainly eucalyptus and pine wood. The project will contribute to the maintenance of forests in the area and the prevention of fires, encouraging the collection of small-sized wood waste that is normally discarded for industrial use. The Curtis-Teixeiro plant will increase the generation of energy from renewable sources, thereby contributing to the reduction of carbon dioxide emissions.
Valmet's delivery consists of a biomass-fired HYBEX power boiler plant featuring bubbling fluidized bed (BFB) technology. Thermal power capacity of the boiler is 130 MW, and electricity capacity of the plant is 50 MW. The delivery also includes auxiliary equipment and supporting structures.
