The use of electric bicycles is spreading all over the world. This is an important advance in the fight against traffic congestion and air pollution, particularly in large cities. But electric bicycles are only truly green when recharged with renewable energy. For example, in the Netherlands, only 15 percent of the electricity that circulates through the network is green energy.
That is why ACT Commodities, present in Amsterdam, New York, Paris and Shanghai, has started a collaboration with the VanMoof bicycle brand whereby all ACT employees in the world will receive an electric bicycle that will always be charged with renewable electricity, which will have the company’s guarantees of origin.
According to Jaap Janssen, CEO of ACT Commodities, “More than half of Dutch companies have sustainability on the agenda, which is fantastic. But it is important that we take real action ourselves. At ACT we believe that it is very important that we not only help others to achieve sustainability goals, but also that we act.”
ACT was founded in 2009 as a trading house and market maker in environmental products such as CO2 emission rights and green certificates. The company is the connection point between buyers and sellers of these marketable products.
