Be.EV partners with Paua to add more than 700 charge points to the Paua network

Electric vehicle charge point operator Be.EV has signed a new strategic partnership with Paua , a move that will put 700 more charge points within reach of commercial drivers; expanding the Paua EV charging network.

Businesses operating electric vehicles in the Greater Manchester area will now have vastly improved charging coverage, the addition of Be.EV ensuring Paua customers have access to 1,800 EV connectors in the Greater Manchester area. Of these more than 1,000 are high-powered DC chargers (50kW or faster). This provides drivers with at least two charge point connections every square mile.

Be.EV is on a mission to increase charge point coverage in the North of England and beyond. Electric vehicle owners on this network will also benefit from Be.EV's national expansion, which will see a total of 1,100 charging points installed by the end of 2025.

The company has 700 live charge points with an additional 300+ charge points being built for go-live across the UK by the end of 2024. All EV charging on the Be.EV network is 100 percent supported by renewable energy generated by Octopus Energy.

Paua now provides drivers with access to more than 54,000 charge points at more than 17,000 locations managed by more than 35+ charging providers across the UK. Increasing network coverage across all regions of the UK reduces drivers' fear of moving to electricity making it easier for businesses to reduce their transport emissions.

Informed fleet managers are consistently asking for more infrastructure. More charge point connectors reduce operational downtime and improve drivers confidence.

Paua now supports a partner connector at least every 15 miles, although rural areas remain less well covered with the lowest densities of chargers in Caithness, Northumberland National Park and the North Yorkshire Moors.

For this reason, Be.EV is keen to hear from landowners such as farmers who wish to maximize revenue by installing EV charge hubs on land near busy roads.

As of the end of June 2024, the UK had 1,112,140 fully electric cars on its roads, in addition to 147,290 electric vans according to NewAutomotive. While these numbers are rapidly rising, many UK businesses are still in the early stages of electrification, managing mixed fossil fuel and electric-powered fleets. Charging infrastructure remains a key challenge for fleets of all sizes.

“We are very pleased to be working with Paua - a company which shares our mission to bring EV charging to as many people as possible” said Asif Ghafoor, CEO of Be.EV. “The transition of fleet vehicles to electric has the power to bring environmental and sustainability benefits to us all and Paua is an important part of that movement. At Be.EV we are constantly looking for new sites to install our community-focused charging sites and will bring them to Paua customers as they go live.”
