In just the past two days, the company added charging stations at facilities managed by Ace Parking in San Francisco, Oakland, and Walnut Creek, California, and at the Rapid Park garage at 25 Beekman Street, near the financial district and South Street Seaport in New York City, NY.
These new EV charging services are all located near popular high traffic retail sites, including Fisherman's Wharf in San Francisco. .
"The locations we selected for new EV charging stations are frequented by customers who are environmentally aware and seek out Ace Parking locations while at work, shopping, and entertainment locales in the Bay Area," said Jonathan Wicks, Ace Parking director of operations in Northern California. "We pride ourselves on our green initiatives and we're pleased to work with Car Charging Group as we continue to push the envelope as a very environmentally-friendly company." .
At each Ace Parking location, CarCharging's service utilizes a Coulomb Technologies EV fast charging station, known as Level II, which provides 240 volts with 32 amps of power to quickly refuel an electric vehicle's battery. The EV charging stations utilize the standard SAE J1772 connector widely adopted by nearly all automobile manufacturers. .
"With a growing number of people driving EVs, we wanted to provide our customers the convenience and reassurance of recharging while at work or enjoying the many restaurants at nearby South Street Seaport," said Kevin Wolf, Rapid Park Regional Director. "Working with CarCharging to provide EV charging services as a shareable amenity, we can now offer Rapid Park's EV customers the ability to park and rapidly recharge their electric vehicle in one location." .
EV drivers can easily register and create a CarCharging account online, and attach a small card to their keychain to initiate use and payment at any intelligent CarCharging station. The CarCharging keychain card also allows drivers to use charging locations on the ChargePoint® Network, the largest national online network connecting EV drivers to EV charging stations. Car Charging also accepts direct payment via credit card. .
Users can pinpoint EV charging station locations using the CarCharging map at http://www.carcharging.com/. The ChargePoint® mobile application for the iPhone, Android, and Blackberry phones also provides real-time charging station location information with turn-by-turn directions. Drivers will soon be able to reserve a time slot, guaranteeing access to EV charging stations to recharge their electric vehicle. .
