Comau and Mullen Automotive are joining forces to develop the state-of-the-art body shop for the new and upcoming Mullen Five EV Crossover. The two companies are aiming to deliver the most accurate and quality body shops to enhance the overall production of the Five. Comau will support the project by designing the processes and equipment for the AMEC facility, aided by its experience in designing Body Shops for the automotive industry
“Comau continues to focus its advanced competencies and longstanding experience toward the development of strategic markets such as electrification” said Laerte Scarpitta, Comau’s Leader of the Americas. “It is always a pleasure to work with a new electric vehicle manufacturer to support the widespread deployment of E-Mobility solutions. This project confirms our commitment to progressing the mobility of the future.”
David Michery, CEO and chairman of Mullen Automotive, added that Comau is an international leader in developing world class automation technology and vehicle body shops for the automotive industry.
The Mullen Five is a rapid electric compact SUV that saw its debut at the Los Angeles motor show last November. It has a 95 kWh battery and a range of 325 miles and is capable of fast charging to 80 percent in 21 minutes. Mullen Automotive has said it is being targeted at the luxury market. The vehicle will be equipped with Multi LED intelligent LIVE technology, which means a digital driver's display and central infotainment screen, along with tablet-style screens for rear passengers and wireless phone charging.
Production of the vehicle is scheduled to start in 2023, with deliveries scheduled for Q2 2024.
