Connected Kerb launched The Smart Charging System - designed to reduce costs for all EV drivers by optimizing charging times and energy consumption, resulting in substantial savings for consumers - earlier this year in the UK.
To enhance their existing EV charging solutions and improve user engagement, particularly in areas of reliability and ease of use, Connected Kerb identified that user experience was a key factor in adoption and so worked with Star to undertake a thorough overhaul of their mobile applications for both iOS and Android platforms.
This included designing a new user interface to significantly reduce the number of failed charging sessions and enhance overall user satisfaction.
The revamped application now features advanced functionalities such as a map for locating EV charging stations, streamlined session payments, the ability to set favorite locations, and comprehensive account management.
As a result of these improvements, Connected Kerb has successfully retained users and strengthened relationships with existing customers, leading to increased overall engagement.
Meanwhile, the streamlined operations and enhanced efficiency have enabled Connected Kerb to focus on further innovation and improvements in their services.
Ben Boutcher-West, Chief Digital Officer at Connected Kerb, said, “Public smart charging is the catalyst we need to create a fairer, greener and cheaper charging network.
“We know that just under two thirds of people in the UK don’t have access to a home charger, which is why it's so vital that the public charging network has smart capabilities, allowing people from all walks of life to benefit from lower costs at off-peak times.
“In addition, smart charging also optimizes grid usage by maximizing green energy and reducing peak demand, enabling more EV charging points. Our nationwide rollout is a major step towards accessible, affordable electric driving for all.”
Andrew Fellows, Global Head of Automotive at Star, said, “Our partnership with Connected Kerb exemplifies our commitment to driving innovation and using technology as a force for good. We're proud to support Connected Kerb in their mission to make EV adoption more accessible and efficient for everyone across the UK."
By supporting off-peak electricity rates, Connected Kerb’s Smart Charging System lowers overall charging costs for drivers and promoting sustainable energy uses - a cost-effective approach which aligns with Connected Kerb’s commitment to making EV adoption more accessible and affordable.
Initially rolled out with several UK councils, the Smart Charging System will be available in urban and rural areas across the UK by the end of the year.
