The EV ARC unit will offset the school’s Freight Farm energy intake and provide emissions free electric vehicle charging for the campus. The school selected the EV ARC because it is a seamless solution for their EV charging needs while providing free, solar powered energy to their Freight Farm (an urban agriculture project that utilises an old shipping container). Since the charging unit is self-contained, it does not require any permits, inspections or construction. It also has the cheapest and fastest installation on the market. Six students from the high school participated in the acquisition through a proposal to the Green Problem Based Learning contest where a district-level committee of adults awarded a pool of money to help fund the order, although EV ARC units are also eligible for NREL grants.
“Colorado is taking ambitious steps towards the electrification of transportation and we view schools in that and the other states as a great market for our products just as universities already are” said Desmond Wheatley, Envision Solar’s CEO. “We applaud the efforts of the students who have shown that they can make a difference through enabling the driving on sunshine experience on their campus”
Schools are rapidly becoming hubs for EV charging and Envision Solar sees this as a potentially significant market opportunity for future EV ARC agreements.
