Caltrans has awarded Envision Solar a one-year contract, with two one-year extensions, to supply state and local offices and departments with the company’s EV ARC solar powered chargers. The EV ARC was invented and is manufactured in the US. It fits inside a parking space and generates enough clean, solar electricity to power 150 miles of EV driving per day.
The systems solar electric generation is enhanced by EnvisionTrak, a mechanism that enables the array to follow the sun, thereby generating 18 to 25 percent more electricity than a fixed array. The energy is stored in the EV ARC Power Storage Technology allowing EVs to be charged at any time during the day or night. It requires no trenching, foundations or installation and can be deployed in minutes while also able to be moved to a new location with ease.
“Caltrans is one of the biggest and most innovative departments of transportation in the world” said Desmond Wheatley, CEO of Envision Solar. “We are thrilled that the first purchase order from our state contract has come from such a prestigious group. We look forward to fulfilling many more orders in the coming months and are delighted to be off to such a promising start with the State of California.”
The EV ARC units are assembled in San Diego by combat veterans, minorities, workers with disabilities and other highly talented and mission-driven team members.
The units will be delivered to Caltrans during the next 90 days. Earlier this month, Envision Solar also delivered EV ARC units to a major Silicon Valley technology company using the unit’s mobility transport system.
