The Caledonia Depot already hosts 160 dual-headed DC fast chargers and will shortly have 150 electric buses in service. Ampcontrol will focus on optimising the energy costs while ensuring high uptime and on-time departure of all buses for their next shift.
First Bus announced earlier this year their commitment to their operations to be net-zero by 2050 and run a zero-emissions bus fleet by 2035. In England, they have already purchased 193 electric buses, the largest electric bus purchase outside of London, and expect to roll them out starting March 2023.
“We are excited to facilitate First Bus’ strong sustainability vision and help them reach their net-zero target with a smart and reliable solution” said Joachim Lohse, CEO and founder of Ampcontrol. “This partnership will enable the most advanced energy optimisation for buses in the UK. First Bus’ vision and belief in fleet electrification already set them apart from other bus operators worldwide, and I believe our solution will significantly increase their value proposition.”
Duncan Cameron, Managing Director of First Bus Scotland, added that First Bus Scotland is about to welcome its 150th electric vehicle to the depot which will serve the people of Glasgow every day, and that Ampcontrol’s cutting-edge technology will align with First Bus’s other partners to help the company continue towards its Zero Emission Mission for 2035.
