The Minister said in order to make e-mobility successful, the Department of Heavy Industry in India has allotted the responsibility of setting up 200 charging stations at Delhi, Jaipur and Chandigarh under Fame scheme. Eighteen charging stations were set up at Dwarka Sector 10 Metro station under the scheme which will prove benefitting to e-rickshaw drivers.
The Minister said that the Department of Heavy Industry has recently allotted 455 electric buses to selected cities / special category states through the Expression of Interest (EOI). Apart from this, the department has approved budget to Ahmedabad, Himachal Pradesh and Navi Mumbai for 130 electric buses. The Minister also stated the government is working on the Fame- II scheme, which is focused on electric power train based local and public transport, to recognize the urgent need to reduce the level of pollution and to make the city clean and environmental friendly. The requirement for development of charging infrastructure for smooth commencement of electric mobility in the country has been appreciated and accordingly, solutions are being provided in the Fame-II scheme.
Shri A. K. Jain, Managing Director of the REIL also said the company has so far set up 45 charging stations out of total order of 200 electric mobility charging stations and the remaining work is in progress. All installed 200 chargers will be connected to the app-based Central Monitoring System, which will provide online information of the availability and performance / operational parameters of each charger.
