The ships will be equipped with dual fuel engines that can run on green methanol. Climeon's marine heat recovery technology will be used to reduce fuel consumption on board the shipping company's new environmentally friendly fleet. Deliveries of Climeon's HeatPower 300 systems to HD-HHI's yard in South Korea will take place in 2024.
“It is gratifying to see the marine industry making great efforts to implement innovative technology for climate-neutral transport” said Climeon CEO Lena Sundquist. “HeatPower 300, our latest product for the production of electricity through heat recovery, has been developed to meet the demands of the marine industry and to support its green transition. We are proud that our HeatPower technology has been validated by respected players such as Maersk and HD-HHI, and we are honored by the trust to be involved and take an important step forward for more energy-efficient shipping.”
Climeon's HeatPower 300 has an integrated and robust design to meet the high demands of the marine industry and is optimised to recover the low temperature heat produced by marine engines. The company’s low-temperature residual heat recovery technology increases energy efficiency on board and provides shipyards and shipowners with a cost-effective way to reduce fuel consumption and carbon dioxide emissions.
HeatPower 300, has met with great interest from the marine industry, as well as from various application areas in industrial processes, engine-based power plants and in low-temperature geothermal power generation. The flexible, modernised product platform offers a cost-effective way to produce sustainable electricity, increase energy efficiency and reduce carbon dioxide emissions, which is of critical importance for a sustainable energy transition.
