H-Tec Systems to present green hydrogen solutions at ‘The smarter E Europe'

PEM electrolysis technology provider H-Tec Systems will be presenting high-performance electrolysers for sustainable energy systems at this years smarter E Europe 2024 European trade fair for the energy sector, in Munich, from 9th June to 21st June in hall B2 at booth 617.

The presence of the German PEM electrolysis specialist at the trade fair will be focused on scalable solutions that are specially designed to meet the rapidly growing capacity requirements of customers: the ME450 PEM electrolyser for projects from 1 MW and the Modular Hydrogen Platform (MHP), a scalable electrolyser solution for large-scale hydrogen projects with capacities of 10 MW and more.

The H-Tec Systems ME450 electrolyser is a proven plug-and-play solution for the reliable and efficient production of green hydrogen. With a capacity of 1 MW, the electrolyser can produce 450 kg of highly pure hydrogen of grade 5.0 per day, which is e.g. suitable for mobility projects or power-to-X applications.

The ME450 has a system efficiency of 75 percent at 30 bar pressure. If the exhaust heat is utilised in projects, e.g. for the regional heat supply of industry and private households, the electrolyser achieves an even higher system efficiency of 90 percent and more.

The electrolyser comes in a standard 40' container and is specially designed for customers looking for a quick and easy entry into hydrogen production and projects aimed at sector coupling. The multiple stack design as well as the high availability of the electrolyser and the availability of spare parts help to minimise investment risks and lead to the lowest possible hydrogen production costs.

With the Modular Hydrogen Platform (MHP), H-Tec Systems offers a scalable modular system that is designed to meet the requirements of large-scale hydrogen projects in industry and the energy sector.

The MHP supports the industrial production of green hydrogen by connecting individual 10 MW blocks to form multi-MW systems. Thanks to the scalable modular system, 10 MW blocks can be combined into multi-MW systems with an electrolysis capacity of 10 to 100 MW and more. The system is optimised for easy indoor installation on pre-assembled skids. Each 10 MW block is equipped with integrated process water treatment and electrical power supply. In addition, the system can be supplemented with fresh water and hydrogen treatment, as well as process heat recovery or oxygen utilisation as required.

One of the most important features of the MHP is the extremely high system efficiency of 77 percent (51 kWh/kg) at 30 bar pressure, which is far above the usual values. The MHP achieves ground-breaking efficiency and availability, making it the ideal solution for hydrogen production in industrial operations. Thanks to the excellent system efficiency, high availability, and a proven maintenance concept, the MHP enables particularly low hydrogen production costs and stable, safe operation.

The highly standardised 10 MW modules of the MHP are based on the proven S450 stack technology platform, which is already successfully established on the market and has been continuously refined based on tests and practical experience.

“The hydrogen scale-up in Germany is an essential goal and we see it as our mission to drive the market development through innovative solutions and the creation of structures for large-scale series production” said Robin von Plettenberg, CEO of H-Tec Systems. “We are currently seeing high demand and many applications across the energy sector, industry and communities. The opening of our Gigahub stack production facility in Hamburg in September will be an important milestone towards meeting the growing demand even better in the future.”

In order to make green hydrogen affordable and competitive in the future, H-Tec Systems has been working on the completion of its Stack Manufacturing & Development Center in Hamburg Rahlstedt, near the Schleswig-Holstein border, since April 2023. From fall 2024, PEM electrolysis stacks with a total prospective electrolysis capacity of up to 5 gigawatts are to be manufactured there in an automated process. The stacks are the centerpiece of the PEM electrolyser, which will be built at the company's headquarters in Augsburg, Germany. In addition to its proven S450 stacks, H-Tec Systems will also develop and produce a new generation of stacks with a higher output at the Stack Manufacturing & Development Center.

A comprehensive impression of the company, the innovative ME450 and MHP PEM electrolyser and the increasing variety of application areas will be provided to trade fair visitors at ees/The smarter E Europe from June 19 - June 21, 2024. The H-Tec Systems team is looking forward to an active exchange with visitors in Hall B2 at Stand B2.617.

H-Tec Systems will provide further information in the accompanying presentation “The Promise & The Risks of Hydrogen Electrolysis Projects” by Maximilian Kuhnert, Sales Manager at H-Tec Systems on Friday, 21 June 2024 at 09:50 am in the Green Hydrogen Forum & Expo in Hall B2, The smarter E Europe 2024, Messe München.
