US renewable energy conference Cleanpower will again bring together the industry’s thought leaders and decision makers to discuss and showcase the most important issues facing the energy industry today. With a focus on “Building the Clean Energy Economy,” the conference will take place at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Centre in San Antonio, Texas from May 16–18.
Transmission is critical to linking clean energy resources to one another for resource diversity, reliability, and resilience. The panel “Transmission Policy and Buildout” will explore opportunities to proactively plan, site, and construct transmission from four visionaries with a range of perspectives: transmission developer, large C&I consumer, legislator, and grid manager. It will be moderated by Michael Garland, CEO of Pattern Energy and will include Caroline Golin, Global Head of Energy Market Development and Policy, Google; Chris Hansen, State Senator (D-31), Colorado General Assembly and Elliot Mainzer, President and CEO, California Independent System Operator.
Hydrogen-fuelled heavy industries have so far been out of reach for decarbonisation at an achievable price point. Now, the nascent domestic green hydrogen industry is solving this issue and in turn creating exciting opportunities for clean energy. The panel “Bringing Green Hydrogen Within Reach” will discuss state and federal initiatives, technological innovations and barriers, and policy advocacy needed. It will be moderated by Jacob Susman, CEO and Co-Founder, Ambient Energy and will include Janice Lin, Founder and President, Green Hydrogen Coalition; Megan Reusser, PE Senior Development Engineer, Burns & McDonnell and Adolfo Rivera, Senior Director – Green Hydrogen, Avangrid Renewables.
US Secretary of Energy Jennifer Granholm has also recently been announced for Cleanpower 2022.
The event will also host the Department of Energy’s Collegiate Wind Competition which helps prepare students for jobs in the wind energy industry through real-world experience with the latest in technology, project development finance and outreach.
