Vivid Technology is a diversified renewable energy company based in Australia, with interests in technology-focused solutions in the industrial energy efficiency and CO2-to-fuel conversion markets in Australia and Asia Pacific. The company specialises in smart lighting systems in large industrial and commercial sites, delivering, on average, 85 percent savings in lighting costs for customers, including large companies such as Linfox, Coca Cola Amatil, Melbourne Ports and Woolworths. Another interest is CO2-to-fuel conversion.
REM talked to Vivid Technology Managing Director, Sam Marks to find out more.
Can you tell me about Vivid Technology and what it does?
Vivid Technology Limited is a diversified innovative Australian clean technology company that delivers intelligent energy efficiency solutions and carbon reduction through IoT and CO2-to-fuel conversion technologies.
Vivid Technology has a range of patented clean tech solutions, including innovative and intelligent IoT Industry 4.0 MATRIXX lighting platform. Vivid’s MATRIXX unique intelligent lighting control system combines a state of the art, human centric lighting system with unrivalled energy efficiency, reducing lighting energy costs by up to 90%. Delivering exceptionally high energy efficiency savings and carbon reductions, MATRIXX captures and converts smart data to provide site intelligence for industrial and infrastructure sectors. Vivid's technology is easily installed and provides businesses the infrastructure for an IoT and industry 4.O future. Vivid Technology is full turn key solutions partner.
What is CO2 to fuel conversion and how does it utilise renewable energy technology?
NewCO2Fuels innovative system takes CO2 from industry and combined with water and heat, profitably produces a range of products including Oxygen or syngas and from it various synthetic transportation fuels like gasoline and diesel or chemicals for plastic and fertilizer including making pure hydrogen. Since CO2 is free (and arguably a harmful “waste” product), this is cost-effective with the only "waste product” at the end being oxygen, which can be sold as an additional proft stream for customers.
What kind of demand is there for this at the moment?
The current Co2 market is estimated to be over $1Trillion accessible market, with $24 billion market in the steel and gasification industries alone. NCF product is expected to cut 1-5 percent of a plant’s CO2 emissions being over one third of the current objectives of global emissions reduction. China represents over 40 percent of the CO2-to-fuel market globally and NCF has signed a commercialisation agreement with Sinopec Engineering to deploy NCF’s technology on a commercial scale in China.
Can you tell me more about your involvement in smart lighting and about your customers in this particular area?
Vivid Technology has designed, developed and manufactured an all Australian, disruptive intelligent lighting technology, which provides unparalleled verifiable lighting energy efficiency savings in excess of 90% for over 10yrs or more, for large scale industrial and commercial market segments. The system fuses a uniquely developed modular, upgradable, plug and play lighting engine with a core IoT intelligent control and data analytic insights, which reacts in real time to maximise energy efficiency. The technology underpins the move to Industry 4.0, where data, communication, analytics and algorithms merge and interact to enable operation performance and efficiencies across a customers’ business.
The system provides detailed analytics to give unparalleled data insights into a customer’s site, identifying a range of other operational efficiency measures. It has been designed from the ground up to be a core infrastructure platform for the emerging internet of things eco system and Industry 4.0.
The modular design of the system allows individual components to be upgraded, either physically or remotely via software upgrades, ensuring the latest technology is deployed to maximise and deliver energy savings to customers.
This upgradable and future proofed platform, provides homogeneously placed light engines providing light, are always powered and are connected by a full hardwired communication network, upon which any current and future IoT solutions can leverage.
Vivid Technology has a range of large blue chip companies including Coca-Cola Amatil, Kerry Logistics, Interface Floors, Goodmans, Linfox, Dulux, Mercedes Benz, Asahi, CEVA Logistics, Vicinity to name a few.
How do you anticipate demand for these services to grow in the near future?
The following combination of competing pressures on corporations today will drive the demand for intelligent lighting systems.
Energy price increases growing so fast that they now directly impacting business survivability.
The backdrop of increased focus and commitment on energy efficiency in light of the growing concern around climate change.
Contending with unprecedent technological convergence and change.
The increasing importance of Internet of Things and Industry 4.0
Vivid Technology’s Intelligent lighting systems addresses ALL these complex competing drivers in order to ensure business survivability.
What kind of potential for emissions reduction, energy efficiency and financial savings do they have?
Delivering exceptionally high energy efficiency savings and carbon reductions, VividTechnology’s system captures and converts smart data to provide site intelligence to enable reductions in lighting energy costs by up to 90 percent.
As at 31st March 2018, Vivid Technology has to date saved in excess of $5.1 million in energy costs for our customers, equating to circa 5,542 tonnes of CO2 saved.
