There is just under six weeks to go before the Ecobuild conference in March. The event has been described as the world’s biggest event for the sustainable built environment and some of the biggest names in the industry will be present along many others drawn from entertainment and the media.
Alongside government and political figures such as the Energy and Climate Change Minister Greg Barker MP and the Rt Hon Michael Fallon MP, there will be Professor Sir David King, Jonathan Dimbleby, Krishnan Guru-Murthy, Joanna Lumley, Paul Morrell, Leo Johnson and many more. Overall, over 1,100 expert speakers will deliver Ecobuild’s renown conference and seminar programme with over 140 sessions covering such diverse topics as ‘Green for growth – reality check’, ‘Reinventing the High Street’, ‘The Green Deal and ECO – is it delivering?’ and ‘Better through BIM’. Seminars will also be delivered in a variety of formats, from lectures to panel discussions, conference sessions to applied seminars.
Joanna Lumley is currently working as the worldwide ambassador of Plan A, the eco and ethical programme which is aiming to make M&S the world’s most sustainable major retailer. She is a key member of the M&S Sustainable Retail Advisory Board and she will join in conversation with Jonathan Dimbleby on 6th March in the Ecobuild Arena as part of the ‘Beyond Construction’ stream.
British journalist and newsreader Emily Maitlis will be covering a session on ‘Reinventing the High Street’ and ‘Green for growth – Reality check’ will the Rt Hon Michael Fallon MP discussing the topic of what and where should we invest in green infrastructure for maximum benefit. The well-known Channel 4 television presenter and journalist Krishnan Guru-Murthy will join Fallon as part of the ‘Making Construction Happen’ stream to cover ‘Is the NPPF delivering on its promise of 'sustainable development?’
On 5th March, former chief construction adviser Paul Morrell OBE joins the Ecobuild line-up to head a lively debate answering the important question ‘Is this the end of the road for zero carbon?’ Another energetic debate on 7th March will see Sir David King, former Chief Scientific Advisor, Department of Energy & Climate Change (DECC), asking ‘Is there a future for nuclear?’
